Dialup Internet Setup
These instructions will help you setup your dialup on Mac OS8.
One of the first things you'll see after installing OS8 is the Internet Setup Assistant, if you don't see it you will need to locate your "Assistants" folder on your hard drive. Double-click the Internet Setup Assistant.
Click the Update button.
Click the right arrow to continue.
Select Add Internet configuration and then click the right arrow.
Type in "Start" for the configuration name, select Modem and then click the right arrow when you are done.
Select your modem and the port you wish to connect to, then click the right arrow.
Enter the dial-up phone number in the first box as the phone number to dial. Using your "Setup Information Sheet" that you received during your signup with Start Communications, enter your "Login username" and "Login password" for the user ID and password boxes. Once completed, click the right arrow to continue.
Select No here and click the right arrow.
To complete your DNS information, on the first line of the large box type 22.214.171.124 and return then type 126.96.36.199 on the second line of the first box. In the smaller lower box enter start.ca then click on the right arrow button.
Using your "Setup Signup Sheet" information, complete your email address and password, then click the right arrow button.
Enter your email account name using the information from the "E-Mail mailbox (POP3 account)" on your "Setup Information Sheet" followed by @mail.start.ca, the end result should look like email@example.com. For the SMTP host name in the second box, enter mail.start.ca then click on the right arrow button. Note: There should not be any spaces in any of the information on this screen.
Type news.start.ca for the news group host name, then click the right arrow button.
Click the right arrow button.
