 Description

Gooderham Falls is a small, narrow waterfall that serves as the outfall from Gooderham Lake (AKA. "Pine Lake"). Don't go out of your way to visit this waterfall, but if you're in the area, it's worth a short detour. Perhaps 7 m in height, the water tumbles down a narrow, Cedar-lined path towards a small pond at the base of the hill. While the river and falls is rimmed by a narrow woods, the site is actually at the edge of the village of Gooderham. From the pond, you can see homes and the back of some small business buildings.

The falls is visible from the bridge over the river, but it is more interesting to park, and scramble down the side of the hill to the end of the falls. If you look careful, you can see the remnants of an old water power project at this site. The wooden penstocks are long gone, but the metal rings used to hold the wood together, as well as the concrete base can be seen amongst the boulders, trees and tall grasses.

This waterfall is covered in more detail in the print version of "Waterfalls of Ontario."
