From Hwy 401, exit at Napanee and go north on Lennox and Addington Rd 41. Drive north for about 8.5 km to Lennox and Addington Rd 12. Turn left (west) and drive about 5 km. The road will bend to the right and then left - be sure to follow Rd 12. Just past the little hamlet of Forest Mills, you should pass a one-lane bridge that crosses the river. Park right here - the falls are at the bridge.

 Description

A small waterfall slash dam-remnants, this is another one of those little falls that you don't want to drive too far out of the way to see, but is worth a quick stop if you're passing through. The waterfall itself isn't spectacular. In fact, most of the fall is simply over a concrete dam, with a small one lane bridge over top. But it is the small, rocky shorelands downstream of the falls that give the site its interest. The bedrock gives the impression of little terraces along the shore, and you can explore about 50-75 m of the right bank (closest to the road).

The topographic map shows a "Buttermilk Falls" almost exactly 1km downstream of this spot. I have not seen this waterfall. When looking for it, it looked like access was blocked by private property. If you drive west along Lennox and Addington Rd 12, and then stay "left" on the local road, you will know that you're close to Buttermilk Falls when the road crosses a little creek flowing south into the Salmon River. The falls is about 150 m upstream from here, but I could not see them. If anyone can find this waterfall, please let me know. Please do not trespass without permission.
