Follow Hwy 7 east from Peterborough to Hwy 37, or west from Ottawa to Hwy 37. A few kilometers east of Hwy 37, Flinton Rd turns north (left from the west) from the highway. Follow this road north for about 18 km to the village of Flinton (you will need to turn left at the end of this road, in order to get to the village). Drive to the end of this road to what is probably Deer Rock Lake Rd. There is a small park somewhere here, but I can't remember if you go left or right, although my strong guess to go left. Park in the lot.

 Description

This is a small waterfall that has been significantly altered by an ugly concrete dam. One wonders how pretty this would have been before construction of the dam (?). The waterfall is 2 to 3 m in height, and about 7 to 8 m wide. The bedrock here is an interesting jet black metamorphic rock. It is probably "metavolcanic" meaning that it was once volcanic rock that was subsequently metamorphosed by the intense heat and pressure that shaped many of the rocks of the Canadian Shield. Similar rock is exposed at Price Rapids located immediately west of the junction of Hwy 37 and Hwy 7.

Finding this waterfall shouldn't be hard, although when I visited, I was in a rush and couldn't find a well marked path. I ended up crashing through the woods, walking down beside an old concrete foundation and the coming out at the base of the falls. Unfortuantely, I didn't write down any details of my visit, and at the time of writing, am counting on a failing memory. Can anyone help me to simplify the path to the falls?

The road from Hwy 7 to Flinton is interesting, but for an alternative route, follow Upper Flinton Rd. It is more winding, hilly, and crosses the Skootatmata River at several points. You can access this road by turning right on Robinson Rd, which is the first road to the right off of Flinton Rd, just a few kilometres north of Hwy 7. From here on, keep left until you reach the village.
