 Description

This is a low, canoe-navigable chute which is really only included for information purposes. The river is 10 m wide here, with a total fall of perhaps 2 m over a signficant distance. The rock cliffs on either side of the river make for some nice Shield-country scenery, especially in fall. But this is not a waterfall. The chute is surrounded by private property, and thus, your only options are a quick view from the roadside.

The Magnetawan River has a large number of chutes, rapids and little falls, most of which are inaccessible by road. Within about 6-8 km paddle downstream from this location you could visit Upper and Lower Burnt Chute, followed by Needles Eye and Lovesick Rapids. Porter Rapids is only a few km upstream, while Seller Rapids and Poverty Bay Chutes are found further upstream, closer to Knoefli Falls (see entry). I would greatly appreciate if anyone could provide any information or photographs of any of these falls.
