 Description

This waterfall is located in the Forks of the Credit Park, which is a well known park that gets a fair number of weekend visitors from Toronto. The park is a mix of forest, old fields and ponds. The trail to the waterfalls is relatively well signed, but the walk to the falls is about 40 minutes. A steel walkway and viewing platform provides a decent view of the waterfall from the side of the high walls of the Credit River gorge.

The waterfall is a nice example of the plunge class, with a resistant caprock projecting well over top of the weaker rock layers below. Unfortunately, a large concrete retaining wall above the falls ruins what otherwise would be a very pretty waterfall. The concrete remains of an old power plant are situated on the left bank (looking downstream) of the falls.

For a very scenic drive, take the Forks of the Credit Road (Peel # 11) west from Highway 10, which is located a few kilomters south from Peel # 24. The area is crawling with tourists during early autumn, as the leaves and steep topography make for a beautiful show.

This waterfall is featured in the print version of "Waterfalls of Ontario.
