 Description

A few hundred meters downstream of the main Chedoke Falls, Chedoke Creek falls over another plunge waterfall about 5 m in height. The crest is composed of hard Whirlpool sandstone, while the undercut Queenston Shale is easily visible due to its bright rusty red colour. Some large blocks of sandstone (and dolostone from futher upstream) have crashed to the bottom of the gorge.

A short sidewalk leads behind the houses on Hillcrest Ave and connects to the Chedoke Radial Trail. Turn right on the trail and walk about 50 m to a trail leading into the woods to the left. The trail branches out in the forest: keep to the right, but do not leave the forest. The trail winds its way to the lower falls. Use caution here, as slopes are steep. From here, you can pick your way upstream to the upper falls. There is no trail, but the hiking becomes a little less intense.
