Dialup Internet Setup for Windows 95

Step 1.

Select the Start button, then Programs, then Accessories, then the Dial-Up Networking option.

If you do not have a "Dial-Up Networking" option then you will also need to install Dial-Up Networking for Windows. You can do that by selecting "Start", then "Settings", then "Control Panel", then double-clicking the "Add/Remove Programs" icon. Next select the "Windows Setup" tab and make sure there is a solid black checkmark beside the "Communications" option. Select "OK", you may be prompted for your Windows installation CD-ROM or diskettes.

Step 2.

Double-click the Make New Connection icon from the window that is presented.

Step 3.

Enter "Start Communications" for the name of the computer and then select the Next button.

Step 4.

Enter the dialup telephone number and then click the Next button.

Step 5.

Click the Finish button.

Step 6.

Delete any old entries that you no longer use by right-clicking them and selecting "Delete". This will ensure that you do not accidentally dial an out-of-date connection.

Step 7.

Double-click the Start Communications icon, enter your username and password and you are ready to connect!

Optional:

For login performance, security reasons or to automatically dial when you go to access the Internet, you may wish to change some of the default settings of your connection. To make these changes, right click on the Start Communications icon, then select Properties with your left mouse button. Click on the "Networking" tab, and deselect "Log on to network", "NetBEUI" and "IPX/SPX Compatible".

...then click on "OK" to save your changes.
