Web Accelerator Setup for Windows
Please note that you must already be subscribed to our Unlimited Dialup and Web Accelerator service for these instructions to work.
Step 1. - Downloading
Download the Start Web Accelerator for Windows
Click to download the Start Web Accelerator software and select the Run button to install it.

If you are presented with a Security Warning please click Run again on this second window to start the setup process.

Step 2. - Installation
You will be presented with a few standard installation screens, click on Next through until Finish.

After you have clicked on the Finish button you will be prompted to reboot your computer. The software installation will not be completed until you have rebooted so please click on OK to restart your system.

Step 3. - Logging in for the first time
Once you have rebooted you may be presented with an option to integrate with Firefox or Netscape if you have those browsers installed. If so, please click on Yes to enable acceleration with those browsers.

Once you have connected to the Internet you will be presented with a new login box for the web accelerator service. Please enter your regular dialup username and password and make sure that it is configured to save your password so you do not have to enter this information on subsequent logins.
For example your username may look like "sc1234", "idm/ca/sc1234" or "sc1234@start.ca".

If you are using Windows XP, once logged in successfully you will briefly see a confirmation that looks similar to the following:

Step 4. - Optional Settings
If you would like to change any of the optional settings such as image quality, enabling email acceleration or ad blocking, you can do so by right-clicking on the Start Web Accelerator icon
in your system tray and selecting "Settings".

Software Removal
If you need to uninstall the Start Web Accelerator software for Windows for any reason you can do so by clicking on Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and then removing the "Start Web Accelerator" software package.
